About BDRelief

BDRelief was born from a simple but powerful belief: that the Bangladeshi-American community has both the heart and the means to make a meaningful difference for those suffering in Bangladesh and for our neighbors here in the United States.

BDRelief is structured to direct the maximum amount of every donation toward real, verifiable relief. We partner with trusted local organizations on the ground in Bangladesh to ensure that aid reaches families facing poverty, food insecurity, and medical hardship, not administrative overhead.

At the same time, we recognize that need does not stop at the border. Many Bangladeshi Americans in the United States face their own hardships, navigating a new country while supporting families abroad. Our Diaspora Aid Program exists to provide a confidential, dignified pathway to financial assistance for US-based Bangladeshis who need it.

501(c)(3) Status

BDRelief has applied for federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Community Governed

BDRelief is governed by a dedicated Board of Directors committed to serving the Bangladeshi-American community with integrity and care.

Bangladesh Partnerships

We work exclusively with vetted, trusted local partner organizations in Bangladesh to ensure aid reaches individuals and families with accountability and care.

Diaspora First

Our Diaspora Aid Program provides direct financial assistance to Bangladeshi Americans in the US, reviewed confidentially and disbursed with dignity.

How Your Donation Works

We believe in radical transparency. Here is exactly how money moves from your heart to the people who need it most.

You Donate

You make a secure online donation. Choose a one-time or recurring gift, and select the cause you care most about.

We Allocate & Verify

Funds are reviewed by our Board and allocated to vetted programs. We verify partner organizations in Bangladesh before any disbursement.

Aid Is Delivered

Funds are transferred to trusted local partners who distribute aid directly to families. We collect reports to confirm impact.

Where Does My Money Go?

For every dollar donated to direct relief programs, our goal is to ensure the full amount reaches aid recipients. A small, disclosed operational fund covers legal, banking, and compliance costs.

Bangladesh Aid Distribution

We work with established local NGOs and community organizations in Bangladesh. All partners are screened for accountability, financial transparency, and on-the-ground reach before receiving any BDRelief funding.

Diaspora Aid Process

US-based Bangladeshis submit a relief application through our form. Applications are reviewed by our Diaspora Aid Review Committee. Approved applicants receive aid within 10 business days.

Reporting & Accountability

Donors receive impact updates showing how funds were used and how many people were helped. We file all required IRS and state financial reports.

Understanding the Need

Bangladesh is a resilient nation facing deep, ongoing challenges.

Despite remarkable economic growth over the past two decades, Bangladesh continues to face significant gaps in poverty, healthcare, and education. Natural disasters, income inequality, and limited access to services leave millions of families vulnerable. BDRelief exists to help bridge that gap.

Poverty & Food Security

Poverty remains one of Bangladesh's most pressing challenges. Rural households face seasonal hunger, wage instability, and limited access to social safety nets.

  • Over 24 million face food insecurity annually
  • Seasonal flooding destroys crops and livelihoods
  • Daily wage workers have no income safety net
  • Women-headed households are disproportionately affected
Healthcare Access

Access to healthcare remains inequitable, especially in rural and low-income communities where out-of-pocket costs can push families deeper into poverty.

  • Many families cannot afford basic medications
  • Rural clinics lack staff and equipment
  • Maternal and child health outcomes lag significantly
  • Chronic illness leads to long-term economic hardship
Education

While enrollment has improved, many children drop out due to poverty or lack of materials. Girls face additional systemic barriers.

  • 3M+ children at risk of dropping out annually
  • Families cannot afford uniforms, books, or fees
  • Child labor pulls children out of classrooms
  • Rural schools suffer from teacher shortages

You can help change these numbers.
